Hillside Native Garden

Hastings-on-Hudson, NY

We love a challenging site, like this Hastings property’s steeply sloped front yard that was overtaken by invasive species.

The client wanted a landscape that would improve the local environment and create habitat, while keeping maintenance under control.

After significant site preparation and development, GJL designed and installed a hillside native pollinator garden that accentuated the existing features — mature birch trees and stunning boulders.

Watch an interview with the client on why he chose ecological landscaping, part of our A Voice for Nature series.

In the words of the client:

“Jay’s design and his team’s execution of it are superb. When designing the landscape renovation, I had three primary considerations: 1) ecological – the garden is for the planet, not just for me; 2) aesthetic – the landscape should be beautiful and feed the human spirit; 3) ease of maintenance. Bees, butterflies, and other pollinators visit in abundance. The garden is extremely beautiful and its design fits perfectly with the style and situation of my house. Working in the garden is a pleasure. I highly recommend Green Jay Landscape Design – Wonderful people, wonderful company.”
