Celestial Wild Garden

Rye, NY

This Rye property started with a traditional backyard lawn and patio that was habitually underused because of a mosquito issue (the property borders a wetland).

GJLD removed the lawn and designed a custom water feature set in a lush perennial garden. The new designed habitat invites predators, like dragonflies, to keep the mosquito populations in check.

Meandering garden paths allow you to take in the long-blooming perennials and hummingbirds that visit them. Mosquitos aren’t an issue anymore.

Recently, the front lawn was also completely replaced with gardens. Steppingstone paths allow you to traverse from the front entrance and driveway through the nature-inspired gardens that span from full sun to full shade.
