Ecological Landscape Design and Stewardship

Green Jay Landscape Design provides full-service, ecological landscaping services in Lewisboro, NY and nearby Waccabuc. We design, build, and restore landscapes that are as functional as they are beautiful. Our work prioritizes the health of your soil, air, and waterways while providing toxin-free, low-maintenance environments that attract pollinators, birds, and beneficial insects.

We’re more than a landscaping company. We’re land stewards dedicated to creating “Landscapes for Better Living” across the Tri-State Area. Every project reflects our promise to protect the soil, conserve water, and choose native plants that support biodiversity and resilience.

Our services combine art, ecology, and craftsmanship through five key landscape solutions:

1. Ecological Landscape Design

Our design process blends beauty and function to create outdoor spaces that support both people and the planet. We work with nature, not against it, using native plants, pollinator-friendly plantings, and stormwater-conscious layouts to improve soil biology and habitat diversity.

2. Landscape Construction

Our installation process is 100% organic, allowing soil microbes to thrive and plants to establish strong root systems. We specialize in site development, grading, drainage, natural stone masonry, and wetland restoration, all completed with care for the environment and your property’s long-term health.

3. General Contracting

Green Jay Landscape Design acts as a general contractor for complex outdoor environments. We coordinate fencing, decking, lighting, irrigation, and other construction phases through our trusted network of Preferred Partners. Each trade is scheduled strategically to create a smooth, efficient installation process.

4. Ecological Consulting

We provide expert consultation for homeowners, architects, and builders. From stormwater management and erosion control to carbon-smart landscaping and invasive species management, our guidance helps you make informed decisions that protect your land and surrounding ecosystems.

5. Residential Sustainable Stewardship

Our Sustainable Stewardship Program goes beyond standard maintenance. For properties of five acres or more, we implement a long-term ecological management plan focused on biodiversity, ecosystem restoration, and soil vitality—ensuring your landscape continues to thrive for years to come.

Together, these services support the vision of a regenerative, biodiverse landscape that adds value, beauty, and health to your property.

Why Choose Green Jay Landscape Design

  • Responsible Land Stewardship
We design and build healthy, carbon-negative landscapes that function without toxic chemicals. Our native plantings and organic methods protect pollinators, pets, and people while improving soil and air quality.
  • Refined, Transparent Process
Our process is built on communication and trust. From detailed design presentations to transparent project updates, you’ll always know what’s happening and why. Clients receive organized plans, plant imagery, bloom calendars, and a “Beneficials” guide highlighting the wildlife their new landscape will support.
  • Trusted Local Network
Through our Preferred Partners program, we coordinate all phases of your project with vetted, reliable contractors for fencing, lighting, irrigation, and more. This streamlined approach delivers efficiency and quality while saving time and effort.

A Process That Makes Your Project Effortless

Over our years of experience in the Westchester County, New York tri-state area, we've refined our process to ensure outstanding results for our clients. This is what to expect when you work with us:

Step 1 - Site Protection & Construction Layout

Complete necessary site protection: mark utilities and hazards and install erosion control and mature tree protection. Layout approved design on-site.

Step 2 - Site Development & Land Clearing

Perform necessary grading, terraforming, terracing, and/or excavating to prepare the land for design development.

Step 3 - Hardscape & Plant Materials Selection

We hand-select each and every tree, shrub, perennial, boulder, and path/patio stone used in our projects. Details define a design!

Step 4 - Installation & Construction of Hardscape

Green Jay Landscaping's expert masonry teams craft natural stone walkways, patios, retaining walls, staircases, and more. We also work with stucco and stone veneer. Driveway siting and installation (gravel, Belgium block, curbing, and edging) is also in our purview.

Step 5 - Delineate Planting Beds & Amend Soil

Green Jay Landscape Design garden crews mark out new planting beds, weed and/or dethatch the area, and amend soil with organic compost, biochar, and bio-stimulants. Soil tests may reveal additional recommendations.

Step 6 - Planting

Our designers finalize plant placement on-site, collaborating with the client to ensure views are accentuated and screened perfectly. Plantings range from trees to shrubs, perennials, annuals, containers, and vertical gardens. Install crews follow organic horticulture planting techniques and edge beds.

Step 7 - Irrigation & Finishing

Proper irrigation is the key to a successful garden. Following a custom irrigation installation by our Preferred Providers, planting beds are mulched and finished.

Step 8 - Outdoor Lighting

Our Preferred Providers design and install  custom landscape lighting plans.

Step 9 - Walkthrough

Final walkthrough with client and designer to ensure ultimate satisfaction with the project. Modifications made if necessary. Project closes, local maintenance providers recommended or Residential Sustainable Stewardship begins.
